WTEN | WCC Singles Player of the Week Award Goes to Kozyreva

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Saint Mary's Women's Tennis player Mariia Kozyreva has been name the WCC Singles Player of the Week for April 5. "Masha" defeated the No. 9 player in the country Shiori Fukuda 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) by taking the final set in a tiebreaker on Saturday's final match at Pepperdine.
The Saint-Petersburg, Russia native is 20-5 on the season and is currently ranked No. 49 in the country. Last season she was named to the WCC First Team for Singles and Doubles and has been named to the first team every year the award has been given out by the WCC in her time as a Gael.
It was almost this exact same time last season the fifth-year senior was named the WCC Singles Player of the Week, receiving the award on March 30 of 2021 as well as on March 17 of 2020.
The Gaels will take on the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday, April 9.
