LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Women's Tennis came up just short of keeping their four-match winning streak going as the Loyola Marymount Lions won 4-1 against SMC at the LMU Tennis Center.
Â
The Lions took the doubles point but Jocelyn Massey won the first match to finish in the singles competition when she took out Isabella Tcherkes-Za 6-2, 6-0 and things were all even. But the Lions would win the next three matches to clinch the match and secure the win.
Â
That was followed by a competition against Pepperdine the next day, the No. 5 Pepperdine Waves won 6-1 over the Gaels on Saturday afternoon, but the dual match still had a major highlight for SMC as No. 49 Mariia Kozyreva took down No. 9 Shiori Fukuda at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
Â
Kozyreva won 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) in taking the final set in the tiebreaker in the final match of the day to finish. Jocelyn Masseyalso had an epic, three-set battle against No. 82 Savannah Broadus coming up just short in a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) score.

ABOUT PACIFIC
The Pacific Tigers have fallen short in all three of their WCC competitions so far this season. Taking a step back, the Pacific's Women's Tennis seem to thrive in singles with their winning overall record of 39-29, with four different individual Tigers with their own winning overall records. Pacific hopes to flip their season around, starting with the Gaels this upcoming Saturday.
