MORAGA, Calif. — The finishing touches have been completed on the 2022 Saint Mary's Volleyball schedule. The Gaels are scheduled to play 27 regular season contests, including 13 inside University Credit Union Pavilion, with three trips scheduled for outside of California, including two in West Coast Conference play.
 
HELLO, IDAHO!
The 2022 season will officially kickoff at Boise State, as the Gaels take part in the annual Boise State Invitational, scheduled for August 26-27. Saint Mary's will play three times across two days to ring in the new year, with opponents to be determined. Last year's field included teams such as Dixie State, Long Beach State, and Montana State in addition to the hosting Broncos.
 
HOME AND IN THE BAY
Following the opening trip to Idaho, SMC will remain in the Bay Area for the rest of non-conference play. The Gaels have their home opener scheduled for Wednesday, August 31 at 7:00 pm against Sacramento State. Additional home game in non-conference play take place on September 9 against Pennsylvania, September 10 against CSUN, and September 15 against Cal. The only two non-conference road games the Gaels will play feature short trips to San Jose State (September 2) and UC Davis (September 13).
 
The home contests against Pennsylvania and CSUN are part of the annual Bay Area Invitational, which will feature a neutral-site contest between Pennsylvania and CSUN on the morning of September 9.
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE NUGGETS
Saint Mary's will once again play every team in the West Coast Conference twice during the 2022 season, with this year marking the final time they will face BYU as a conference rival. BYU is slated to leave the WCC for the Big-12 following the 2022-23 school year.
 
Notable moments in WCC play…

• Tuesday, September 27 is the Gaels WCC home opener as they take on San Francisco inside University Credit Union Pavilion. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
• Five of the first six WCC matchups, including the first three weekends of conference play, are slated to be on the road for SMC.
• The final home matchup against BYU as a conference foe takes place on Thursday, October 13.
• Six of the final eight matches on the season will take place at home.
• The final three matches are home matches for the Gaels: Gonzaga (November 17), Portland (November 19), Santa Clara (November 22).
• Senior Day will be the Saturday, November 19 contest against Portland. Play will begin at 12:00 pm that afternoon.
