MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary's Men's Tennis team will host Holy Names University for the final time this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Unfortunately, HNU will close its doors after this school year, leading to this being the last time these two programs will face each other.
Â
It will be the SMC Men's Tennis Team's first home match since new stadium seating was installed at the Korth Tennis Courts.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels have started the season facing Pac-12 foes Cal and Stanford, and the two traditional rivals have kept pace with each other by blanking SMC to start the spring slate.
Â
Carlos Ramos Membrives and
Caelan Potts each had their first set go to a tie breaker, with Cal narrowly edging out the Gaels to get the win. Potts put up the best fight of Saint Mary's players, losing to Cal's Lucas Magnaudet 7-6 (5), 7-5.
Â
ABOUT HOLY NAMES
Last season's meeting between the two programs was cancelled, but the Gaels are undefeated in their history against the Hawks, with their last meeting being a 5-2 win for Saint Mary's on February 21, 2019 in Moraga.
Â
The Hawks are coached by Tony Canedo, who was a stand-out collegiate player at the University of San Francisco. Canedo was co-captain of the tennis team his senior year, playing the #2 singles and #1 doubles for the Dons. He went on to play professionally, touring on the International Tennis Federation circuits and playing in the Bundasliga in Germany.
