MORAGA, Calif. — For the second time this season, the Gaels are on a six game unbeaten streak. Saint Mary's shook off the September blues, and have not yet lost in the month of October, but they will put their streak to the test this week, as they hit the road to take on Pepperdine before returning home to host San Diego.

SHE DOES IT ALL
Abby Castillon continues to stuff the stat sheet this season. The sophomore out of Modesto is coming off of her best week of the season, going for 15 kills, six aces, 30 digs and seven blocks. Although Castillon is not the Gaels statistical leader in any category, she ranks in the top six in every major category (kills, attack percentage, assists, aces, digs and blocks). Only her and Genevieve Bane can claim to be a part of that distinguished list this season.
A PAIR OF SIXES
The Gaels are riding their second six-game winning streak of the season, this time doing it in the heart of conference play. The six straight WCC wins marks the longest streak for the Gaels since 2012-13, when they won their final four conference matches of the 2012 campaign, and their first two of the 2013 season.
ABOUT THE WAVES
The Gaels may be riding a six game win streak, but the Waves are currently the hottest team in the WCC with 12 wins in a row. In his ninth season at the helm, Head Coach Scott Wong has already surpassed the 150 win mark, and looks to lead the Waves to their fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth. Defending WCC Offensive Player of the Week Grace Chillingworth (241 Kills, 18 Aces, 137 Digs) leads this talented group on the court. The Waves swept the Gaels inside UCU Pavilion earlier this season. Birdie Hendrickson, and not Chillingworth, led the Waves that day with 14 kills, while setter Isabel Zelaya notched a 33 assist, 11 dig double-double.
ABOUT THE TOREROS
Just one game ahead of the Gaels in the WCC standings are the San Diego Toreros. Legendary Head Coach Jennifer Petrie looks to help San Diego to a late surge, as they quest for her tenth WCC title in her illustrious 25 year head coaching career. This season, the Toreros have proven to be one of the best defensive teams in the conference, averaging nearly 15 digs per set. The Toreros made quick work of the Gaels in the 2023 conference opener, led by Hailey Stoner's 11 kill, no error performance.
