XC | Gaels take on the West Coast Conference Cross Country Championships

MALIBU, Calif - The Gaels are heading to Malibu to race at Alumni Park on Saturday, Oct. 28, for the 2023 West Coast Conference Cross Country Championships.
LAST TIME OUT
At the Bronco Invitational, many of the Gaels hit new PRs; the women placed ninth out of 21 and the men placed eighth out of 16.
For the women, Rayna Stanziano was the SMC leader for the third time this season, and got her third fastest 6K time as a Gael and in program history. She finished in seventh with a time of 20:07.2. Kaylee Barnes finished in 25th place with a new PR time of 20:54.6 and now holds the ninth fastest 6K all-time for SMC. Just 0.3 seconds behind her was Molly Dreher also with a new PR of 20:54.9, for SMC's 10th fastest 6K.
For the men, Blaine Reynolds hit a new PR with a time of 24:24.8 for the ninth fastest 8K in program history Cayden Hein was the next Gael to finish with a time of 24:41.7 in 53rd place and Curtis Volf finished in 60th with a time of 24:46.4. For the first time in their careers, Luke Bland and Luther Hard broke the 25 minute mark, rounding out the Gael top five.
THE LINE UP
Competing at the West Coast Conference Championships for the women are Rayna Stanziano, Molly Dreher, Kaylee Barnes, Eleanor Jepsen, Emily Fields, Ana Mercado, Luz Mercado, Klara Frih, Lauren Buckley, Michaela Martin.
The men who will be competing in the conference championships are Blaine Reynolds, Curtis Volf, Cayden Hein, Luke Bland, Aidan Donovan, Troy Coulston, Eric Martinez, Sam Andersen, Thomas Osborne, Luther Hart.
The women's 6K race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the men's 8K will start at 11:00 a.m. The championships and the award ceremony that will take place at 12:00 p.m. will be streamed live on ESPN+.
