MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Women's Tennis are on the road for the first time this season as they head to the northwest to take on Iowa and Oregon.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's last hit the courts on January 28 against Nevada. The Gaels were scheduled to take on the UCLA Bruins in Moraga on February 3, but due the weather the matches were canceled.
The Gaels will look to maintain their momentum from their comfortable 5-2 win over the Wolfpack a few weeks ago.
Jordan Harris and
Lene Mari Hovda got the Gaels in the won column to start to the day with a 6-3 double's win over Wiem Boubaker and Amahée Charrier.
The Wolfpack responded with a win at #3 doubles, leaving #2 doubles between SMC's
Olivia Rook and
Iman Khan and Nevada's Guerbert and Luneva as the deciding match.
Rook and Khan were tested throughout the entire match, and narrowly bested the Wolfpack duo 7-5, clinching the doubles point for Saint Mary's.
Saint Mary's continued their strong play on the single's courts, as they took care of business to beat Nevada 5-2. Both
Jordan Harris and
Lene Mari Hovda cruised in their matches, as
Stefanie Silva also won comfortably. Harris won 6-1, 6-1, while Hovda won 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman
Iman Khan won her first match as a Gael, beating Nevada's Anatasia Luneva 6-3, 7-6 (7).
Olivia Rook and
TianYu Dong also played well for SMC, but were unable to grab the wins.
ABOUT IOWA
The Hawkeyes are entering their match with the Gaels after starting 3-1 on the season. Head Coach Sasha Schmid is entering her 7
th season in charge of the program. Last season, the Hawkeyes went 7-17 overall, finishing 12
th out of 14 in the Big10 conference.
After starting their season with a loss to Charlotte, the Hawkeyes have won three straight, beating Furman 5-2, Denver 5-2, and Kansas State 4-1. Iowa is set to take on Oregon on Friday February 10 before battling the Gaels the following day.
ABOUT OREGON
The Ducks head into their match with the Gaels on Sunday having started the season 3-2. Head Coach Courtney Nagle is entering her 7
th season in charge of the Ducks having taken over the program in July of 2018. Nagle led Oregon to a 15-9 record last season, finishing 6
th out of 11 teams in the Pac-12 conference. The Ducks have had an up-and-down start to the season, starting with two wins against Portland State and SeattleU, before losing to #14 Oklahoma State and Kansas. Oregon rebounded to beat Portland 6-1, setting up a match up against Iowa on Friday February 10 before facing the Gaels on the 12
th.
