MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis came up just short in Friday's match against Portland, as the Pilots ended up on top 5-2. The loss puts SMC at 3-4 in WCC play, but with a chance to get back to .500 on Saturday against Gonzaga.

The Gaels took the doubles competition down to match point, but Portland pulled out the 7-6 win in the deciding set.

Saint Mary's got convincing singles wins from
Carlos Ramos Membrives and
Mathis Moysan. Ramos Membrives got a 6-0, 6-4 victory in the third position and Moysan won 6-0, 6-3 in the fourth spot.

The one spot match up went down to three sets, with
James Watt narrowly being edged out by Sema Pankin of Portland.
