MTEN | Regular Season Wraps Up at San Diego This Sunday

SAN DIEGO – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis will close out the regular season taking on the first-place Toreros on the road on Sunday, April 23 at 12:00 p.m.
 
The Gaels are 4-4 in WCC play, good for the fifth spot in the WCC tournament seeding with one match left to play. Saint Mary's is a half match ahead of BYU in the standings, but the 4-5 Cougars own the tiebreaker due to a 4-0 win over the Gaels on February 18. LMU would have to win both of their final matches to pass the Gaels in the standings as they take on USF on Saturday and Santa Clara on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Men's Tennis out lasted Gonzaga in their home final, winning 4-2 to gain the tiebreaker over the Zags in the WCC standings.
 
Gonzaga took the doubles point to start things off on Saturday, but the Gaels take over from there. Saint Mary's would get out in front 2-1 with two quick wins from Pierre Lieutaud and Carlos Ramos Membrives.
 
Mathis Moysan won the final two sets versus Tom Hann 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, before Diego Jarry clinched the victory with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Oliver Andersson.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO
USD is looking to win the WCC Regular Season Championship with a win over the Gael, as they are currently tied with Pepperdine, but own the tie breaker.
 
The Toreros swept the West Coast Conference Weekly Awards last week. Sophomore Iiro Vasa was named Singles Player of the Week, while Vasa and Sacchitt Sharrma earned Doubles Team of the Week.

#84 Vasa went 1-0 at No. 1 singles in a crucial WCC weekend. He defeated Pepperdine's #103 Tim Zeitvogel on Saturday, 6-4, 6-4 to help USD to an overall 4-3 victory. On Sunday at LMU, his match went unfinished.

Sharrma and Vasa went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles in a crucial WCC weekend. The pair defeated Pepperdine's #49 Daniel De Jonge/Tim Zeitvogel 7-6 (7-1), helping USD take over first place with a 4-3 overall road win. On Sunday, they beat LMU 6-3.
