LA JOLLA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis had their WCC Tournament match with Santa Clara go down to the wire again, but this time it was the Broncos escaping with a 4-3 win to eliminate the Gaels.
 
Back on March 26, Saint Mary's pulled out the comeback from down 3-1 to upset the third place Broncos, but Santa Clara were the ones who came back from down 3-2 to get the win on Thursday.
 
Santa Clara took the first two matches to finish in the doubles competition to open up the scoring at 1-0 Broncos.
 
Mathis Moysan defeated Mann Shah 6-3, 6-3, Caelan Potts beat Jack Pulliam 6-2, 6-3, and Carlos Ramos Membrives topped Arthur Neuhaus 6-3, 6-2 for the 3-2 lead.
 
The match came down to a pair of three-set battles where Guillaume Dalmasso edged out Diego Jarry 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 and Christian Lerby snuck by James Watt 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-3 to advance the three-seed Broncos to the next round.
 
It was a very promising finish to the season for Saint Mary's who won four of their last six matches on their way to their first WCC tournament appearance since 2013.
