MBB | Gaels to Face San Diego State in Opening Matchup of the Continental Tire Main Event

LAS VEGAS — The lights will be bright and the stars will be out in Las Vegas on November 17, as the Gaels are set to open the 2023 Continental Tire Main Event with a matchup against reigning national runner-up San Diego State at T-Mobile Arena.

The pair of #5 seeds from last year's Big Dance are no strangers to one another, as the Gaels and Aztecs have met nine times, including three times in the last three seasons. In their last meeting, the Gaels downed the Aztecs in a 68-61 slugfest at the Jerry Colangelo Classic in Phoenix.

The Gaels and Aztecs will open up the tournament with a 6:30 PM tip-off. That matchup will be followed by a tilt between Xavier and Washington, scheduled to start at 9:00 PM. The winners of these two contests will square off for the championship at 7:00 PM on November 19, with the consolation game taking place prior to the title game at 4:00 PM
