BERKELEY, Calif. - The Gaels wrapped up the Cal Winter Invite Sunday, January 14th, on a cold evening with three Gaels defeating their competitors.
 
Three of the seven Gaels who competed in the singles defeated their opponents. Juliette Daries took on USF Julia Visaya where SMC took the win 6-4, 7-5. Sofia Daryaie triumphed over Azaria Hayes from Cal Poly 6-3, 6-4. Cal Berkeley Tiziana-Marie Schomburg challenged the Gaels Stefanie Silva pushing the set to three. Silva was able to finish strong against Schomburg and defeated her 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. 
 
Not only did Daryaie and Silva dominate in the singles, the duo was able to manage another win under belt by defeating Cal Poly's Melissa LaMette and Kennedy Buntrock 6-1. 
 
Four other Gaels competed in the singles where they fell short to the competitors. Jamie Pope lost to Cal's Cami Brown 6-0, 6-1. Madison Weekley was taken down by Romane Mosse from Cal Poly 6-3, 6-1. Hana Gamracy from USF defeated Tian Yu Dong 6-3, 6-1. Cal Poly Buntrock challenged Olivia Rook and beat the Gaels 7-6(3), 6-3. 
 
No. 14 Hannah Viller Moeller and Mao Mushika from Cal took on the Gaels duo Iman Khan and Olivia Rook, where the Bears won 6-1. The SMC duo also competed against Cal's Jessica Alsola and Berta Passola Folch losing 6-0. Pope and Weekley went head to head with Brown and Schomburg from Cal, where they fell short 6-1.

Parker Fry and Imogen Haddad from USC took on the Gaels Yu Dong and Daries where they were able to take down the Gaels 6-3. That Saint Mary's duo also took on Valentina Ivanov and Berta Passola from Cal where the Bears were able to win again 6-1. Cal Poly's Romane Mosse and Alexandra Orerets defeated SMC singles winners Silva and Daryaie 6-3. Pope and Weekley took on Cal Poly's Eliza Bates and Sarah MacCallum where the Mustangs fell short 6-4.
