

MXC | Gaels Prime and Ready for Strong Finish at WCC Championship

MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's Men's Cross Country team will head to Micke Grove Golf Course in Lodi to compete in the West Coast Conference Championships at 11:00 AM.
GAELS RECAP
The Gaels finished eighth out of 18 in the open race of the Santa Clara Bronco Invite. Cayden Hein led the Gaels in the 8K, as he finished in 15th with a time of 25:25.0 followed by Troy Coulston securing 27th, 17.6 seconds behind his teammate Hein. Jacob Bravo finished just inside the top 100 as he came in 99th with a time of 27:07.2.
Sophomore Gus Hollister competed for the first time in his cross country career, finishing with a time of 28:55.0. Moss Michelsen, Bryan Cromartie, and Jacob McNitt, also competed at the Santa Clara Bronco Invite.
ABOUT THE RACE
The West Coast Conference consists of eight men's programs: Gonzaga, Portland, Washington State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, University of San Francisco, San Diego, and Pepperdine. Gonzaga is looking to take home the WCC title back to back years after finishing first in 2023. The SMC men's program finished seventh of eight (2023), sixth of 10 (2022), and sixth of 10 (2021).
The course is a 2k Loop that is primarily flat on Bermuda Grass with occasional cart path crossing. On this course earlier this year at the Pacific Invite, the Gaels took home first place over six other schools, including WCC foes San Francisco and Pepperdine. Zane Jackson won the race individually with a time of 24:47.5. Eric Martinez (3rd) and Aidan Donovan (9th) both also placed in the top-10.
