WXC | Barnes Places in Top-50, Jepsen in Top-100 at NCAA West Regionals

COLFAX, Wash. - The Saint Mary's Women's Cross Country team finished 24th out of 39 teams at the NCAA DI West Regional Meet to wrap up the 2024 season. Two Gaels, Kaylee Barnes and Eleanor Jepsen, finished in the top-100.

Junior Kaylee Barnes made excellent strides throughout the race, opening in 73rd through the first kilometer, and then climbing at least four spots in every kilometer thereafter. Over the final kilometer, she jumped eight spots to crack the top-50, finishing in 45th place with a time of 20:37.4, 18 spots better than her finish at regionals last year. Eleanor Jepsen jumped out to a great start, just four spots behind Barnes in 77th through the first kilometer, but fell out of the top 100 by the second kilometer. She showed excellent resilience, however, passing runners at every split from there on out to finish in 91st with a time of 21:21.5. It was also a solid improvement from last year's showing at regionals for Jepsen, who placed in 157th a year ago.

Emily Field finished in 139th with a time of 22:02.3, while Klara Frih finished 191st and Luna Mole finished in 196.
