RENO, NEVADA, - The Saint Mary's Women's Track and Field team competed in their first competition at the Silver State Invitational with
Jaden DeSouza dominating in the 600m run, along with seven other Gaels earning PRs.
The senior out of Lihue, Hawaii, DeSouza not only won the 600m event, but also set a facility record at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and ran her personal best by 1:30.53 seconds.
Michaela Martin,
Eleanor Jepsen, and
Alexis Ortiz also ran their best time with Martin coming in at 1:44.56, Jepsen 1.08 seconds behind her, and Ortiz finishing at 1:45.92.
The distance medley relay placed second out of seventh with freshman Sarah De la Cerda leading the pack. Alexandra Davis-Libiano,
Klara Frih, and
Luna Mole completed the relay as they finished with an overall time of 12:18.50.
Competing in her first collegiate season, freshman
Aleah-Rae Castro ran a 8.26 in the 60m dash and finished in 50th overall.
McKenna Burrows ran a personal best with a time of 8.56, followed by
Hailey Vines only 0.6 seconds behind Burrows.
