LIHU'E, KAUA'I, Hawaii - On the picturesque Ocean Course at Hōkūala in Kaua'i, the Saint Mary's golf team embarked on the first day of the 47th John A. Burns Intercollegiate. The breathtaking backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, Kalapaki Bay, and the Hā'upu Mountain Range set the stage for a day of intense collegiate golf in challenging conditions.
With a persistent wind along with some stiff competition,
Kristian Bressum still showcased his skills, leading the team at an impressive 2-under par, while
Connor Reis and Mitchel Hoey finished the day at +2.
Zack Missigman faced a tougher round, shooting +4. The team is currently in 18th place looking to make a move tomorrow.
Despite the windy challenges,
James Watney excelled as an individual, carding an impressive 2-under par. Long Beach State that claimed the day one lead, finishing at an outstanding -15. Meanwhile, Yannick Malik from Arizona stole the spotlight individually, carding an exceptional -8 to secure the top spot after day one.
Day two is slated to tee off at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time.
