LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels took three out of four from the Utah Valley Wolverines, winning the series with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th in game four by Ryan Pierce.

The Gaels third baseman hit three home runs over the four-game series, including the series-clinching, walk-off winner on Sunday. He hit .389 over the weekend with eight RBIs as well. His first home run put SMC ahead 8-6 in the seventh inning of game two, when his three-run blast erased a 6-5 deficit in Saturday's 11-8 win.

His second home run of the series was a two-run knock that brought the Gaels within one in the eighth inning on Sunday, before he walked it off in the 10th with a no-doubt, solo shot to left on a 2-2 count to win the series.

SMC also got five innings of one-run ball from Derik Eaquinto on Friday, and the same from Ryan Sanders combined in relief over two games. Dylan Delvecchio also threw 5.1 innings of one run ball, as the top arms delivered for Saint Mary's in the series win.

ABOUT SEATTLE
Sophomore Blake Smith moves up to the Friday starter after a solid first year and veteran Peter Chronowski will pitch on Saturdays to start the season, with the most experience of any arm they have. Sophomore Luke Alwood had a terrific summer and will be the Sunday starter. Getting Brady Liddle back, who was a starter before missing last season due to injury, gives them a lot of options.

Position players Cole Kleckner (LF/CF), Jackson Reed (RF), Derek Gellos (3B), Trevor Antonson (SS), Cameron Daytron (1B/DH), and catchers Grant Heiser and Jackson Lind all return. They make up the Seattle core and other returners who accumulated important at-bats last year are Ryne Hays (1B) and Colin Curry (OF), who missed a lot of the season with injuries. Other returners in Kellen Carr (SS/2B), Michael Tsoukalas (1B), and infielders Sebastian Lopez and Andrew Wong all improved and look to make more of an impact this season.
