MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis couldn't slow down Sacramento State's hot start to the season in a 4-1 loss to the Hornets on Saturday. The Gaels did battle to five different 7-6 sets and had leads in to two of the three unfinished matches.
 
They trailed just 2-1 after Thibaud Maxant defeated Rudolfs Aksenoks 6-4, 7-5 to put Maxant at 2-2 as a singles player this spring. But Mate Voros would sneak by Mathis Moysan 7-6, 7-6, eking out a win to put Sac State up 3-1.
 
The Hornets would clinch the match in the same fashion, with Adam Chodur just getting past freshman Paulo Hugo Etchecoin 7-6, 7-6 for the 4-1 final score. Diego Jarry was ahead 6-5 in his third set when the Hornets clinched the head-to-head win, and Pierre Lieutaud was down just 4-3 in his third set.
