MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's Women's Tennis team will be competing head to head against Sacramento State for their last game before starting conference play.
This game was previously planned for February 29th, but was postponed due to weather conditions.

The Gaels fell short to Long Beach State 4-1 with SMC duo
Tian Yu Dong and
Juliette Daries finishing first in the doubles defeating Doga Akyurek and Hana Becirovic Novak 6-2. Long Beach State dominated the next two double sets securing the point, being up by one going into the singles.
Sofia Daryaie started off Saint Mary's strong in the singles by defeating Paulina Franco Martinessi 6-4, 6-2. Daryaie ended up being the only Gaels to put a point on the board after
MiaAngelina Ruja,
Iman Khan, and
Stefanie Silva fell short to their opponents.
ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
The Hornets are coming out of a .500 percentage finishing 11-11 in the 2023 season. Prior to the 2024 season, Sacramento State was picked to finish second in the Big Sky Conference, being one of the top threats. The Hornets have reached the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament over the past two years.
Back in February when it was planned to take on Sacramento State, the Hornets were on a five game win streak. Since then they have won four more matches, giving them a nine game win streak. Just this past week, Senior Mayya Gorbunova was named the Big Sky Conference women's tennis player of the week after helping the Hornets to one of the best starts in school history.
