MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis opened WCC play with a huge win over LMU in a 4-0 shutout of the Lions.
 
Thibaud Maxant and Mathis Moysan set the tone for the day with a 6-4 win in the first doubles match to finish. The Gaels clinched the doubles point when Carlos Ramos Membrives and Ellison Greco outlasted Yassine Smiej and Toky Ranaivo for a 7-5 win.
 
SMC would waste little time in running the table in the singles competition as Paulo Hugo Etchecoin defeated Max Wuelfing 6-4, 6-2 to go up 2-0. Moysan kept it going with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Sebastian Nothhaft, and Membrives clinched the win from the one position with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Arthur Pantino.
 
Etchecoin's win pushed him over the .500 mark to 7-6 in singles play, as did Maxant and Moysan when their win put them at 4-3. Membrives and Greco are now 4-1 as a doubles tandem.
 
Saint Mary's match vs. Pacific was postponed due to rain. No make-up has been announced yet.
 
UP NEXT
The Gaels will take to the Pacific Northwest where they'll take on Gonzaga on Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. and Portland on Saturday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m.
