STOCKTON, Calif. — The Saint Mary's Gaels (16-14) are headed into postseason play with some significant momentum, riding a season-long four game winning streak after defeating San Francisco (10-18) and Pacific (0-26) today. The Gaels have gone 8-4 against WCC opponents this season, and have already surpassed last season's win total heading into the WCC Tournament. 

The Gaels opened their day with their 18th consecutive victory over the Tigers of Pacific, sweeping them 5-0 for the second time this season. The tightest matchup of that match came in the one flight, as Allie Cataldo and Hannah Couch dropped the first set, but rallied back to take the latter two sets to avoid dropping a point to the Tigers for the first time this season. 

The Dons of San Francisco provided more of a challenge for the Gaels. The lone NorCal WCC school to defeat the Gaels this season, San Francisco took the Gaels down to the wire, but Saint Mary's kept their winning streak alive. Paola Peralta and Chloe Swanson opened the match with a win, but the Dons took the one and three flights, forcing the Gaels twos and fours into must win positions. Hawley Harrer and Sadie Shipman got things started with a quick 21-9, 21-17 victory to draw things level at two apiece, and the Gaels were able to turn to their closers, Karmin Brown and Angie Bour to seal the deal. After taking a nail biting first set, 22-20, Bour and Brown fell behind 8-6 in the second set before going on a 6-1 run to steal all of the momentum, taking the final set to win the match for the Gaels 21-17. 

With her two wins, Angie Bour moved to 20 wins on the season, occupying both the three and four spots at times this season, while dropping just 10 matches playing with both Allie Cataldo and Karmin Brown. The sophomore has nearly tripled her win total from a season ago. 

The Gaels open up postseason play on April 25 in Santa Monica in the WCC Tournament. While the schedule has not been completely set yet, the Gaels will likely occupy the three seed, and will take on Santa Clara in the opening round of the double-elimination style tournament.
