GOLF | WCC Tournament Run Ends for Gaels in Semifinals

BREMERTON, Wash. — Saint Mary's fell to San Diego in the match play semifinals, bringing their run at the WCC Tournament to an end. The Gaels fell 3-0, and will now have to wait until May 1 to see if they did enough to score a spot in the NCAA Regionals.
Through the front nine, Kristian Bressum found himself at a tie with Kelvin Si in the top spot. Si would take the lead on the tenth, however, and ran away with things, winning 4&2 through 16 holes. Aidan Lee trailed by two at the turn, but clawed back to within one on the 11th. Unfortunately, before he could complete the comeback, San Diego won two more of the match play rounds to end the match play round with a 3-0 win.
The Gaels entered the tournament ranked 78th in the country, with 81 spots available for regional berths. Saint Mary's bested all three of their opponents ranked below them in this tournament, as well ast 72nd ranked San Francisco, so they should find themselves ranked within the top-81, however, that doesn't guarantee a berth with the potential of bid stealers winning their conference tournaments. The Gaels will have to wait and see on May 1.
