BVB | Gaels Head to Boise for Two Before Senior Day on Saturday

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball (12-12) will take part in their final three non-WCC matchups of the Spring, heading to Boise to take on Boise State (24-8) and Arizona (16-7) tomorrow before taking on Sacramento State (7-16) on Saturday at home. As Saturday will be the final home match of the season, the Gaels will honor their five seniors: Hawley Harrer, Karmin Brown, Paola Peralta, Cameron Martinez and Sadie Shipman

The Gaels played their most tightly contested match of the season last time out, falling to San Jose State at home 3-2. Karmin Brown and Angie Bour, playing together for the first time in their career, were the only Gael pair to win in straight sets, while Paola Peralta and Chloe Swanson battled from an early deficit in the third set to win in three. Sadie Shipman and Allie Cataldo split the first two sets, and battled back from an 8-0 hole in the third, but eventually fell in the deciding match.

Boise State has established themselves as one of the top teams in the Southland Conference with a 24-8 overall record, and receiving national votes. The Broncos have three pairings with 20+ wins this season, headlined by Ava Anderson and Emilia Guerra-Acuña who have won each of their last 10. The Broncos have also not lost at home on the season. In year six, Head Coach Allison Voigt has clearly built the Broncos into a top notch beach volleyball program. This will be the third time that the Gaels and Broncos have met this season, with the two splitting a pair of matchups in Hawaii. First serve is set for 10 AM PST. This contest can be streamed here and will be live scored here.

Arizona comes in as the 17th ranked team in the country with a 16-7 record. Steve Walker has been at the helm of the Wildcats program since its inception in 2013 and has built it into a national contender. The top spot for Arizona has been their threes, headlined by Annie Kost (15-3) and Hope Shannon (8-0) playing in that position. This will be the first all-time meeting between the two programs. First serve is set for 12 PM PST. For live streams of court one, court two and court three, click the links. For live scores, click here

The senior day opponent for the Gaels will be Sacramento State. The Hornets are 7-16 and will play Cal twice before taking on the Gaels. Ed Jackson and Ruben Volta split head coaching duties for Sacramento State. Kalani Hayes and Ellie Tisko at the ones and Greta Davis and Caitlin Volkmann at the twos have been formidable this season. Saint Mary's has never lost to Sacramento State, including a 4-1 win earlier this season. First serve is set for 12 PM.
