SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — For the eighth consecutive season, Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball has earned a hefty contingent on the WCC postseason recognition list, as Hawley Harrer has been named first team All-WCC, Hannah Couch and Angie Bour have been named second team All-WCC and AJ Slojkowski and Nya Crump have been named to the WCC All-Freshman Team. Harrer is a three time All-WCC team member, while Bour, Couch, Slojkowski and Crump are all being honored for the first time.
Now a three-time All-WCC honoree on the sand, Hawley Harrer won a team-high 23 matches this season, competing in all 35. The 23 wins bested her previous career-best of 21 from a season ago, giving her 69 wins over her illustrious four year beach career. Hawley split time between the one and two flights this season, playing with Hannah Couch for the start of the season and Sadie Shipman at the tail end. She went 15-10 in her 25 matches with Couch, and an incredible 8-2 in her 10 with Shipman. When Harrer played in the two flight for the Gaels, she went 17-8.
Sophomore Angie Bour earned her first All-WCC nod after finishing right behind Harrer with 22 wins, nearly tripling her win total from last year. Bour split time primarily between the three and four flights, opening her season playing alongside Allie Cataldo and closing out the season playing with Karmin Brown. Playing with Cataldo, Bour amassed a record of 14-10, primarily occupying the three flight, while playing with Brown, the duo combined to go 8-3, exclusively playing as the fours. Playing in the three flight, Bour amassed a 14-8 record.
Another sophomore, Hannah Couch played more matches than any other Gael in the #1 flight. She appeared in all 35 matches, winning 19, nine coming in the one flight and nine coming in the two flight. Couch began her season playing alongside Hawley Harrer both in the one and two positions, before joining Allie Cataldo to close out the season as part of the Gaels top flight. Playing with Harrer, Couch went 15-10, with nine matches in the top flight and 16 in the two flight, while going 4-6 with Cataldo, playing exclusively in the one position.
Appearing in 32 of 35 matches, AJ Slojkowski played threes and fours for the Gaels this season, pairing with both Karmin Brown and Sedona Sherman. Brown and Slojkowski combined to go 12-10, with 21 of those 22 matches coming in the four slot, while Sherman and Slojkowski went 4-6 playing as the threes in all 10 matches.
Rounding out the group, Nya Crump got off to a strong start playing with Paola Peralta at the fives for the first 14 matches before having her season cut short due to injury. Crump, alongside Peralta, went 6-8 at the fives. Like Slojkowski, Crump needed just one fall under her belt before earning a spot in Coach Janice Harrer's lineup, demonstrating veteran quality play as just a freshman.
The Gaels finished their season third in the WCC, behind only SoCal powerhouse programs LMU and Pepperdine.
