WTEN | Madison Weekley Named WCC Singles Player of the Week, First Weekly Award since 2023

MORAGA, Calif. - Junior Madison Weekley kicked off the spring season in style as she was named this season's first WCC Singles Player of the Week after her undefeated performance at the Cal Winter Invite. Weekley becomes the program's first weekly award winner since 2023 when Saint Mary's had Jordan Harris and Lene Mari Hovda take home Doubles Team of the Week. She also became the first singles player to win the award since Mariia Kozyreva did so in 2022.
Weekley was perfect on her opening weekend, going 3-0 in singles play and also winning her lone doubles match with teammate Juliette Daries. Two of her three victories came in straight sets and then on Saturday, she gutted out an impressive three set victory over Cal Poly's Amy Leather after dropping the first set (3-6, 7-5, 10-8).
Saint Mary's will take a couple weeks off and prepare for their first dual match of the season on Saturday, January 25th as they host UC Davis. Full match information and results can be found at smcgaels.com.
