MBB | Big Bahamian Week for Murauskas Earns WCC Player of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Feast Week has come and gone, with the Saint Mary's Gaels (8-1) having a rather successful run at the Battle 4 Atlantis, leaving the Bahamas with a 2-1 record and earning second place at the event. No Gael made a bigger impact over the week in Paradise than junior power forward Paulius Murauskas. The Kaunas, Lithuania native led the Gaels in scoring in all three matchups, and, as such, has been named the WCC Player of the Week.
Murauskas was the Gaels leading scorer in all three contests at the Battle 4 Atlantis, averaging 21 PPG. He narrowly missed a trio of 20 point games, scoring 19 in the middle matchup against Virginia Tech, sandwiched by a 20 point performance against Wichita State and a 24 point outpouring against Vanderbilt. Muruaskas made 18 field goals in the three contests, and converted a staggering 24 of 28 free throw attempts, continuing to lead the conference in free throws made and attempted. He now has also taken over the leading in scoring in the WCC, averaging 19.2 points per game.
After their three game in three day gauntlet, Murauskas and the Gaels will be off from competition until Sunday, December 7, when they head back to the Eastern Time Zone to take on Davidson.
