Point Guard Joshua Dent Picks Up First Career Shamrock Office Student-Athlete of the Week Nod
12/2/2025 9:32:00 AM | General, Men's Basketball
MORAGA, Calif. — Despite being just a true sophomore, Joshua Dent has been given the keys to the Gaels offense this year, starting all nine games at point guard. Despite his underclassman status, Dent has played like a veteran all season long, and that was clearly on display this past week at the Battle 4 Atlantis. As such, Dent has been named the Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week, making him the second men's basketball player to earn this distinction this season.
Dent continued to lead the offense for the Gaels as their primary ball handler through their three game trip to the Bahamas at the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Wollongong, Australia native averaged 10.7 points per contest at the tournament to go along with three assists per game. In the Gaels tournament opener vs. Wichita State, Dent played all 40 minutes, and, with less than a minute to go down one, drove down the court and hit a floater in the lane that would prove to be the eventual game winning shot. He added 14 points and six assists in the Gaels win against Virginia Tech in the semifinals, before finishing out the tournament with an eight point effort on 3-6 shooting from the field in the championship game against Vanderbilt. Dent also went 14-15 from the stripe in the tournament, and, through nine games, leads the WCC with a 97.3% free throw clip.
OTHER NOMINEES: Edie Clarke (WBB) and Alayna Pearson (VB)
