Donovan Chriss Improves to 2-0 in First Season as a Gael, Named Shamrock Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's baseball team went a perfect 4-0 last week with a win over Fresno State and a three-game sweep of San Diego State to improve to 8-4 on the season. In the middle of the Gaels perfect week was junior right hander Donovan Chriss who threw a career high seven innings in the team's 5-2 win over the Aztecs on Saturday.
Chriss was perfect through three innings and after allowing a run across in the fourth he went on to retire nine of the next eleven batters, departing with a 5-1 lead. Chriss improved to 2-0 for his second win in a Gaels uniform and was named this week's Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week. He leads the Gaels rotation with a 3.18 ERA, 17 innings pitched and 14 strikeouts.
He has had quite the start to his Saint Mary's career including a career high seven strikeouts in his debut against Saint Louis, a gritty no decision against 15th ranked Vanderbilt and now a career high seven innings pitched against San Diego State.
The Gaels are back in action on Tuesday, March 4th to take on San Jose State and then will depart for a four-game road trip to Utah, taking on UNLV and Utah Tech. Full game times, live stats and stream links can be found at smcgaels.com.
