MORAGA, Calif. — So often, the sport of beach volleyball features a shifting cast of characters playing in different pairings and different flights all season. That has been true this season for just about every spot for the Gaels…except for the coveted top flight. That role has belonged to the dynamic duo of Allie Cataldo and Hannah Couch, who have combined to go 21-10 this season at that spot. This past weekend, the combo went unbeaten, to become the first beach pairing to win Shamrock Office Student-Athlete of the Week honors this season. 

Allie Cataldo and Hannah Couch went 4-0 on their weekend in Boise as the Gaels ones, leading them to a 3-1 weekend. They won the clinching point in all three of the Gaels wins. Over the last three years playing together, the duo has gone 26-15 (21-10 this year), making them the fourth winningest pair in program history, and within one win of the top three. Individually, Couch ranks ninth all-time in program history with 56 wins, while Cataldo is tied for tenth with 55.
