SAN BRUNO, Calif. - On Friday, September 26th, the 2025-26 West Coast Conference women's basketball schedule was announced. Saint Mary's will kick off their 18-game conference schedule on Sunday, December 28th against the Portland Pilots. This year's conference slate features 18 games including a pair of matchups with first-year WCC member Seattle U and a single road game with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, their last as a member of the WCC, on February 26th.
Nine at Home, Nine on the Road…
Saint Mary's will start conference play at home and welcome last year's WCC Championship Tournament finalists in Portland and Oregon State. They'll open up the conference season against the Pilots on December 28th and then end week one with the eventual tournament champions, the Oregon State Beavers.
Additional home games include Washington State, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Pacific, Seattle and San Francisco. Five of the team's first eight games will happen inside UCU Pavilion before the team heads to Washington to face Seattle and Portland. Their final home game will take place on Saturday, February 21st against Bay Area rival San Francisco. The Gaels took down the Dons at home last season to end a four-game skid against the Dons dating back to 2023.
The season ends in a dramatic way with two tough road games against Gonzaga and Washington State to close out the month of February. February 26th's game against the Bulldogs will mark the final conference matchup between the two programs before Gonzaga's departure to the newly formed Pac-12.
Pacific Northwest Road Trips…
Saint Mary's had a pair of Pacific Northwest road trips during the 2024-25 season and went a combined 0-4 with defeats to Portland, Oregon State, Washington State and Gonzaga. This year, the team will have another four games up north but Oregon State will get swapped with first-year WCC member Seattle U.
The four games however, will be broken up into three trips as Saint Mary's will head to Seattle for a single game on Saturday, January 24th. They'll then return to Moraga to regroup and head back to Oregon to take on the Portland Pilots the very next week on January 29th. The final trip will feature matchups with Gonzaga and Washington State before the start of the 2026 WCC Championship Tournament.
Welcome to the WCC Seattle…
After a 13-year stint as part of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), the Seattle Redhawks will officially join the WCC this year as the conference's 12th member. That number will change after the 2025-26 athletic year with the departure of Oregon State, Washington State and Gonzaga but Seattle's history in the WCC will officially start this year.
Saint Mary's is scheduled to take on Seattle twice during conference play with the first being on the road on January 24th. The matchup will mark the first in their series history since 2013. The Gaels have had good success against the Redhawks, winning each of their last five matchups dating back to 2008.
