

MWP | Saint Mary’s Water Polo Adds Queensland, Australia Native Hugo Riley

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's and head coach James Lathrop have announced the most recent addition to the men's water polo program, center forward Hugo Riley.
Hailing from Peregian Beach, Australia, Riley spent four years playing varsity water polo.
In 2025, his team, University of Queensland, won first place in the Sunshine Coast Water Polo Championships and played in the under-18 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC).
During 2024, Riley's team placed fourth at the Gold State Team National Championships. The year prior, his team placed fifth at the national championships and took second place in the under-16 AYWPC .
With his international experience, Riley will look to contribute success in the Gaels upcoming season.
