

MWP | Gaels Continue Building Inaugural Roster with Addition of Transfer Mateo McKay

MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's men's water polo program has welcomed its newest addition to the team, transfer driver and utility player, Mateo McKay, head coach James Lathrop announced on Tuesday
McKay, who is from Dundee, Oregon, joins the Gaels after spending two seasons starring at Delta College. The incoming transfer tallied 82 goals, 66 assists, and 43 steals during his time there. Following the 2025 season, McKay earned Big 8 Second-Team recognition and All-American Second-Team honors.
Prior to his collegiate career, McKay attended Newberg High School in Oregon, where he played four years of varsity water polo and swimming. During that time, he was named First-Team All-State.
McKay becomes one of the newest members of the Gaels' inaugural roster, as the program gears up to begin competition in the fall.
