MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's basketball program added another highly anticipated non-conference game to its 2026-27 schedule Thursday morning, announcing a road matchup with Big 12 member Oklahoma State set to take place on December 5, 2026.
December's matchup will be just the third all-time meeting between the two programs and the first since 1996. The Cowboys won the first two contests both in Stillwater, a 34-33 victory in 1946 and then 71-70 in '96. Oklahoma State went 20-15 last season with a second round exit in the Big 12 Tournament as well as a second round defeat to Wichita State in the 2026 NIT. The Cowboys bring rich tradition to the Big 12 conference with two NCAA National Championships (1945 & 1946) and six Final Four appearances over their 29 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Head coach Mickey McConnell has the Gaels set up for a competitive non-conference slate with already announced matchups against Saint Louis, New Mexico and a pair of games in the Rady Children's Invitational over Thanksgiving weekend. The MTE field in San Diego includes Georgetown, Texas and UCLA with tournament ticket information available HERE.
Additional 2026-27 game announcements can be found at smcgaels.com. Upper reserved and general admission season tickets for the 2026-27 men's basketball season are on sale now and can be officially requested HERE.
A New, Exciting Era for Saint Mary's Men's Basketball
A new era of Saint Mary's Men's Basketball officially tips off this fall with former standout Gael Mickey McConnell now serving as the Gaels' head coach after having been an instrumental piece of the program for decades, first as a student-athlete and then as associate head coach.
In addition to the road game at Big 12 member Oklahoma State, Saint Mary's will also hit the road to take on New Mexico in December, host the 2026 A-10 Regular Season Champion Saint Louis Billikens on Nov. 20 and compete in the 2026 Rady's Children Hospital Invitational in San Diego on Nov. 26-27. The Thanksgiving MTE will feature a stacked four-team field that includes Georgetown, Texas and UCLA. Additional nonconference games will be released throughout the summer.
The Gaels will also play a designated 16-game West Coast Conference slate with home and road games against LMU, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Seattle U, along with one home-only opponent (San Diego) and one away-only opponent (Denver), as the conference officially announced on June 2.
