MBB | Juzenas Smashes Records in FIBA U20 EuroBasket Tournament

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia — As group play winds down for Lithuania at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket Tournament, Gael sophomore Mantas Juzenas is heating up at a record pace – smashing both the scoring and efficiency records in a game against Poland.
Juzenas dropped a tournament record 46 points on 18-for-26 shooting and 7-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc to go along with 12 boards and five assists. The performance helped lead Lithuania to a 112-67 victory over Poland and saw Juzenas earn an efficiency rating of 55, also a tournament record.
After the record-setting performance, Juzenas leads the tournament averaging 22.7 points per game, 9.3 rebounds per contest and player efficiency. A year ago, Juzenas starred in this same tournament, averaging 11.7 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game, numbers that he looks well on his way to surpassing. His previous high in scoring and efficiency at the tournament came in last year's semifinal win over France, in which he scored 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting from three, and picked up an efficiency rating of 23. On the back of the strong play from Juzenas, Lithuania took home second place honors at last year's event, but his squad is hungry to be crowned champs here in 2026.
While Juzenas stole the headlines as a Lithuanian star, fellow Gael teammate Salih Altuntas is also putting up a strong showing at the tournament for his home nation of Turkiye. The Gaels' sophomore big man is averaging 13 points and nine rebounds per game, including a 19 point and 14 rebound double-double in a win over Germany.
