MGOLF | Program Record Four Gaels Named 2026 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. - The 2025-26 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I were announced by the GCAA on Monday with Saint Mary's earning a program record four selections. The Gaels were one of four West Coast Conference programs with four selections along with Santa Clara, Seattle U and Pacific.
Highlighting the All-America Scholar list for Saint Mary's were seniors Aidan Lee and Mitchell Hoey as well as first time recipients Inigo Izuzquiza and James Williams. Lee earned his third consecutive Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar selection dating back to 2024 while Hoey also earned his third selection of his SMC career dating back to 2023. Lee finished his 2025-26 season with a career low 71.4 scoring average, competing in the team's starting lineup in all 14 events. He most notably ended his collegiate career on a high note, finishing 11-under-par at the NCAA Marana Regional, good for a sixth place finish.
Also earning his third All-America Scholar selection, Mitchell Hoey was another everyday starter for the Gaels finishing his senior season with a 72.3 scoring average. Hoey's standout performance came at the Saint Mary's Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course where he finished in third place at four-under-par, aiding a late push for the Gaels who finished the three-day event alone in second place.
After redshirting in his first season as a Gael, Inigo Izuzquiza jumped into the starting lineup to compete in all 14 events and finish the year with a 71.7 scoring average. The Spaniard earned six top-25 finishes on the year including a career best eighth place finish at the Saint Mary's Invitational. He snuck into the top-40 at the NCAA Marana Regional after a final round 71 (-1) which featured five birdies to cap off his 2026 season.
Lastly for the Gaels and earning his first All-America Scholar selection was redshirt sophomore James Williams. Williams was the Gaels' primary individual throughout the season, competing in a career high eleven events with a pair of top-30 finishes. His best finish came at the Tiger Invitational in the spring where he carded a three-round score of four-over-par good for 20th place.
Four All-America Scholar selections goes down as a program record for Saint Mary's with GCAA records dating back to 2007.
