Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's College of California Director of Athletics, Carl R. Clapp today announced that Mark Orr will assume the position of Associate Director of Athletics for Finance and Internal Affairs. Orr is being reassigned as a result of the resignation of Karen Landis, who had served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Business and Finance since August of 2000. Orr will take over his new position within the Athletic Department effective immediately. With Orr's move, Debra Holland will take over as the facilitator for Student Support Services in an interim capacity.
"I appreciate Mark's willingness to assume a different set of duties within the Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports," stated Clapp. "He's been a tremendous asset to our efforts in his previous role, and I expect him to continue to provide excellent support to all our programs. Debra's support during this transition period will assure that our student-athletics continue to get the quality assistance required to support their academic efforts."
In his new position, Orr will oversee the financial responsibilities of the Athletic Department budget and coordinate team travel. Additionally, Orr will continue to provide guidance to the department's internal operations in the areas of Sports Medicine, Student Support Services, and he will continue as the administrator for four athletic programs, which include; football, men's and women's tennis and women's lacrosse.
With the move of Orr to his new position, Debra Holland will provide support to the academic efforts of Saint Mary's student-athletes in the area of Student Support Services. Holland, who is also the head coach for the women's lacrosse team, will move into the area of Student Support Services in an interim capacity until the conclusion of a national search for a replacement that is expected to begin in early March.
