Moraga, CA - After an extremely competitive search, Saint Mary's College of California Director of Athletics, Carl R. Clapp, announced that Kari Sivesind will become the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Support Services. Sivensind replaces Mark Orr, who moved to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Finance and Internal Affairs position in January. Sivesind will officially join the Saint Mary's staff on June 23, 2003.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, Kari pursued a master's degree in Higher Education Administration at Arizona State University. During that time she was the Graduate Assistant for Academic and Student Services in the Sun Devil Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. After a year, she was promoted to the Academic Coordinator for Athletics position at ASU. Kari then moved back to the Bay Area, accepting a position at the University of San Francisco as the Director of Academic Support for Student-Athletes.
Sivesind is a Moraga native who graduated from Campolindo High School. She competed in basketball at U.C. Davis where she was team captain, garnished several academic and athletic awards, was on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, volunteered in several community service projects, and worked during her senior year as an assistant to the Associate Director of Athletics.
