Moraga, CA- The West Coast Conference released its 2003 Fall All-Academic selection today, with Saint Mary's having a total of six student-athletes receiving recognition in their respective sports. Garnering selection to the squad were Allegra Porter (3.70) from women's cross-country, Jen Belzer (3.85) for women's soccer, Diego Rovira (3.38) and Adam Zielske (3.37) from men's soccer, and Lindsey Bogason (3.32) with teammate Erin Gravert (3.23) from women's volleyball.
The WCC All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete. At the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
"These honorees represent the commitment of WCC student-athletes to both academic and athletic excellence," said WCC Commissioner Michael Gilleran. "Every year it's a difficult process to narrow the long list of qualified nominees from each institution. All of those nominated should be proud of their achievements."
