Saint Mary's Places Five on WCC All-Academic List

Moraga, CA - The West Coast Conference (WCC) announced its 2002 WCC Fall All-Academic Team on Thursday, December 12. Saint Mary's had five student-athletes among the respective team. Those named were Allegra Porter (women's cross country), Sarah Burgess (women's soccer), Lucianne Crenshaw (women's soccer), Shauna Rech (women's soccer) and Lindsey Bogason (women's volleyball).

Porter, the 2002 WCC women's cross country individual champion is a junior and has a cumulative 3.62 GPA as an English major. This is her second WCC All-Academic selection in as many years.

Burgess, a sophomore for the Gaels' 9-9-2 women's soccer team is a 3.60 student as a undeclared major. Burgess was tied for first on the team with seven goals and 18 points.

Crenshaw, a three-time All-WCC honoree, earned her first all-academic award with a 3.22 cumulative GPA. The junior Health, Physical Education and Recreation major was tied with Burgess for goals on the season (7) and points (18).

Rech garnered her second WCC All-Academic honor as a junior. She holds a 3.33 GPA as an Integral Studies major and is a three-time All-WCC honoree in her three-year career.

Bogason, a sophomore for this year's volleyball team, was honored during her first year of elegibility with a 3.39 GPA. As a French major, Bogason ranked among the best in the WCC in numerous categories, including kilss, blocks, points and aces.

At the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
