Dr. Charles F. Preston MD (Men's Basketball)
Dr. Charles Preston began practicing orthopaedic surgery in 2001. Dr. Preston received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from The University of California, Irvine. He then completed his orthopaedic training in New York at the renowned NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases. During his training, Dr. Preston completed an additional orthopaedic research fellowship which resulted in multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at national meetings. While practicing in New York, Dr. Preston was a house physician both at Shea Stadium for the New York Mets, and at Madison Square Garden. Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Preston completed additional fellowship training in Sports Medicine with an emphasis on Shoulder and Elbow surgery at the University of Southern California. While at USC, Dr. Preston assisted in the care of the Rose Bowl Champion football team and National Champion Women's Soccer team. Dr. Preston continues his relationship with USC as an affiliate of the newly formed, Â Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Institute.
Dr. Preston is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and has a special interest in sports medicine and shoulder and elbow reconstruction. As a resident of Danville, he supports the community by serving as an orthopaedic consultant for various organizations including De la Salle High School and the former San Jose Stealth Professional Lacrosse. Â He also continues to pursue his research interests and activities with the Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Institute. In his free time Dr. Preston enjoys local activities with his wife Tara, and son Conor.

Dr. Matthew Pecci MDÂ (Men's Basketball)
Dr. Matthew Pecci received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He was a resident at UCLA Family Medicine Residency in Los Angeles, California and completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Ohio State University Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. Pecci is board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine and has held academic positions as Clinical Instructor and Assistant Professor at Ohio State and Boston University.
He founded and worked as the Director of Boston University's Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship as well as the Director of the sports medicine and orthopedic curricula for the Boston Medical Center Family Medicine residency.
Dr. Pecci served as the Director of Sports Medicine at Boston University coordinating and providing care for Boston University student-athletes. In addition under Dr. Pecci's direction, primary care sports medicine physicians from Boston University provided medical coverage for athletics at Boston College, MIT, UMass Boston, Emerson College, Pine Manor College and many Boston Public High Schools.
During his career, Dr. Pecci has covered many large-scale athletic events, including the Bay State Games, the Boston Marathon, AVP volleyball and U.S.A gymnastics. He also served as the medical director for several Boston area triathlons.
Dr. Pecci enjoys volunteering his time to help with sports medicine education and providing sports medicine care in the local community. In his personal life, his greatest joy is his wife and three children. He enjoys playing basketball, golf and running, but currently gets his biggest sports thrill from coaching his children's youth sports teams. Dr. Pecci is a huge Boston sports fan and enjoys watching Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics games with his sons.
Dr. Michael Michlitsch (Women's Basketball)
As an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the care of the injured athlete, Dr. Michael Michlitsch focuses on the prompt and safe return to play while not neglecting goals of preservation of our musculoskeletal system. Â He enjoys being a part of the multi-disciplinary effort required to return an athlete to health and then keep them healthy. Â Board certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery as well as Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, he serves as Co-Director of the Sports Medicine Program at Golden State Orthopedic & Spine. Â
After attending college and medical school at USC, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at LA County-USC before completing his fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine with Congress Medical Associates in Pasadena. He previously has provided team coverage for Occidental College and Eagle Rock High School and served as an associate team physician for Saint Mary's College  in 2007-08.  He currently serves as head team physician for Monte Vista High School.
In his free time Dr. Michlitsch can be found on the field, coaching or playing sports with his wife Jennifer and their three children near their home in Lafayette.
Dr. Laura Timmerman (Men's Soccer)
Dr. Laura Timmerman is an orthopaedic surgeon. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Neurobiology, and then from UC Davis School of Medicine. She completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at UC Davis in 1991. She then spent a year in Birmingham, Alabama with Dr. James Andrews and Dr. William Clancy in a Sports Medicine Fellowship. She was the Tuskegee team physician, and was involved in the care of top level professional and college athletes. During this time she developed a real interest in baseball and elbow injuries. Â Â
She then returned to UC Davis, where she became an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and continued to specialize in Sports Medicine. She has 39 publications and 100 scientific presentations. She was a team physician for a professional soccer team, American River College and UC Davis athletes. She was an orthopaedic physician for UC Berkeley from 1993-2001, where she cared for athletes in all sports and covered football games. She traveled to Finland and Canada with the USA Hockey women's team. She has been taking care of the St. Mary's College athletes for several years. Â Â She is now in private practice in her hometown of Walnut Creek, CA, where she specializes in treatment of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. She is busy raising her son, and enjoys playing tennis.
Dr. Anthony Porter MD (Women's Soccer)
Dr. Porter is a sports medicine-trained orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in arthroscopic surgery and treating sports injuries. His training involved the latest minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical techniques to treat injuries of the shoulder, knee, elbow, or hip. He is trained as a surgeon, but believes in the value of non-surgical treatment for the appropriate injuries. He’s experienced in some of the latest techniques, including biologic treatments such as platelet rich plasma (PRP). He is dedicated to helping his patients return to their desired activities or lifestyle.
Dr. Porter also received special training in shoulder replacement surgery during his fellowship, including reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA). Complex cases of shoulder arthritis due to fracture or irreparable rotator cuff tendon tears now have improved arthroplasty implant design solutions, including 3D computer planning software and custom implant guides. Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) has become an option for complex shoulder problems involving irreparable rotator cuff tears and arthritis. Similar to the increase in hip and knee arthroplasty, younger patients with shoulder arthritis are undergoing arthroplasty, and shoulder arthroplasty is becoming a more common surgery. Advances in surgical techniques and implant designs in shoulder replacement have greatly improved to better the outcomes for patients. Dr. Porter originally grew up in the Boston area playing sports and he still follows the local teams. His interest in orthopedics stemmed from his love of sports and the ability to help people get back to their favorite activities. He completed medical school and residency in Massachusetts. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship in San Diego, after which he relocated to Northern California with his family. He and his wife love the Bay Area and all that it has to offer. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing and watching sports, woodworking, hiking, traveling, and trying new foods and restaurants.
