Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's Softball tean (3-10) fell to the University of the Pacific in a doubleheader on Wednesday, February 20. The Tigers beat the Gaels 6-1 in game one and 9-2 in game two.
In the first game, the Gaels managed only two hits off of pitcher Jennifer Dacre. Senior Kami Gray (Mt. Shasta, CA) went 1-for-3 with walk for the Gaels, while freshman Laura Davis (Reno, NV) went 1-for-2 with one walk.
Pitcher Jennifer Eaton (Palo Cedro, CA) pitched a complete game for the Gaels, striking out three, walking one, and allowing ten hits. With the loss, Eaton falls to 1-5 on the season.
For the Tigers, Cindy Ball was dominate at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In their second game of the day, the Gaels lost 9-2. The Gaels combined for four hits, with Jennifer Arnold (Oakley, CA) and Davis each going 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Boni Kading was impressive at the plate for the Tigers, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Sara Wiedlin (San Jose, CA) and Eaton combined for one strikeout, four walks, and nine hits. With the loss, Wiedlin falls to 1-5 on the season.
The Gaels will return to Cottrell Field to take on Hayward State on Saturday, February 23. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
