Softball Drops a Close One to Davis 2-0

Feb. 5, 2005

Box Score

San Diego, CA- The Saint Mary's women's softball team dropped a close game to UC Davis (1-2) by the score of 2-0 in day-two of the 2005 Aztec Invitational. Aggie hurler Jessica Hancock recorded the victory while Gael newcomer Megan Galloway dropped her second decision of the season.

The Aggies got to Galloway early when Hancock helped herself out with an RBI single to left field that scored Ashley Johnson. Hancock and Johnson struck again when Hancock doubled in the left-center field gap to score Johnson from third.

That is all the Aggies needed as Hancock (1-0) went the distance, allowing two hits while striking out 14. Galloway (0-2) rebounded after her loss in her first outing by throwing four solid innings, striking out two while allowing five hits. Fellow freshman Kelly Harrison came in for two innings of work and gave up two hits and struck out one.

Recording the only two hits for the Gaels were juniors Eleni Papailias and Marcia-Marie Euker. Euker also drew a walk.

Saint Mary's returns to action today for game-two against No. 20-ranked Long Beach State at 2 p.m.
