Smith, Phelps Honored in Bay Area Press

Moraga, CA - Jontelle Smith and Kieisha Phelps, who have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at Saint Mary's beginning with the 2005-06 season, were named to the Bay Area's second and third team, respectively by Schoolsports.com. The two were also named to the Division I and Division II All-State teams.
Smith and Phelps were honored by several local media outlets after the conclusion of their past season, including the Contra Costa Times, Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Chronicle.
Smith, a 5-5 senior guard from Pinole Valley, was named to the First Team All Contra Costa Times, First Team All-Tower and Third Team All-Metro. Smith was also named to the Division II All-State team and was named the ACCAL Most Valuable Player. Smith averaged 19 points and four assists per game, while leading Pinole Valley to a school record 28-3.
Phelps, a 6-2 senior forward Castlemont, was named to the Second Team All-Tower and Second Team All-Metro, to go along with being named to the Division I All-State team.
