Stanford, CA - The Saint Mary's baseball team finished the season with a 10-0 loss to the Stanford Cardinal on Tuesday night at Sunken Diamond in Stanford, CA. The Gaels end the season with a 20-30 overall record, their first 20-win season since 2002. Stanford improved to 30-19 overall.
The Gaels fell behind early when Stanford scored one run in the third inning. The Cardinal scored two in the fifth and one in the seventh, but opened the game up by scoring six runs in the eighth inning.
Joel Fountain started the game and allowed three earned runs over 4 1/3 innings on seven hits. Ian Farmer pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run and Corey Madden finished the game pitching 1 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs.
Offensively the Gaels managed four hits against four Cardinal pitchers.
Adam Bellows went 2-for-3, Mike Sansoe went 1-for-3 and Bryan Byrne went 1-for-4.
