Davis, CA - The Saint Mary's softball team was unable to capture a win on the road, as they fell to the UC Davis Aggies in both games of the double header, 6-2; 11-3. With the two losses the Gaels fall to 1-4 on the year, while the Aggies improved to 7-5.

Senior Megan Galloway started in the circle against UC Davis in the first game of the double-header, holding the Aggies scoreless in the first two innings. Galloway struggled in the third inning for the Gaels, giving up six runs while walking two batters.

With Davis leading 6-0 at the top of the seventh, Saint Mary's made a late surge to record their only two runs of the game. Kaely Cuthill and Molly Bergeson were brought in on a Bronwynn Russell double, but it would not be enough as Davis captured the win 6-2.

In the second game of the double header, the Gaels looked like they would bounce back, as they held a 3-1 lead at the top of the fifth. But the Aggies bats exploded in the bottom of fifth inning, as they posted 10 runs to record a run-rule win over Saint Mary's, 11-3.

The Gaels three runs of the game were recorded by Russell, Melissa Barretto, and Lauren Clark. In the top of the second Russell scored on a Sadie Dolcini single hit to right center. In the top of the fourth, Barretto, who entered the game as a pinch runner for Kat Delpit, tagged home off a double to the center field by Clark. Clark rounded out the runs for the Gaels, as she was brought home on Russell single to the left field.

Saint Mary's softball returns to action this weekend when they travel to San Jose State for a double header on Saturday, February 23 at Noon. The next day, Sunday, February 24 the Gaels will host the San Jose Spartans at Cottrell field in a double header beginning at Noon.
