
Gaels Push Win Streak to Seven

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team improved to 11-3 on the season with a 4-3 win over Penn on Monday afternoon at the Korth Tennis Complex. At home the Gaels have earned a perfect 6-0 mark, and are currently on a 7-0 win streak. Against the Quakers Saint Mary's dropped the doubles point, but was able to come back and win at the No 1, 2, 3, and 5 positions in singles action.
Joel Kusnierz started off strong for the Gaels, posting an easy 6-3, 6-1 win at the No.1 position. The senior topped Jason Pinsky, improving to 10-2 on the season, while playing at the one position all year. Freshman Lucas Tirelli continued to provide stellar play at the No. 2 position, defeating Joseph Lok, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Marek Dvorak also made his match look easy, taking down Eric Riley, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Dvorak has recorded an 8-2 record while playing at the three position. Rounding out the Gaels' singles wins was sophomore Andrea Zannoni, topping Justen Roth, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles play Kusnierz and Tirelli earned an impressive win over No. 57 ranked Joseph Lok and Jason Pinsky. The pair topped the Quakers 8-5.
The Gaels return to action on Friday, March 14 at 3:00 PM, as they host Texas-San Antonio at the Korth Tennis Complex.
