STOCKTON/ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team concluded its dual meet weekend at both the Pacific Invite and Jack Kramer Invitational. The weekend was highlighted by a historic win at the Jack Kramer Club in Southern California, as the Gaels swept ACC member and Bay Area rival Cal 6-0 on Friday. Saint Mary's had not only never swept the Golden Bears in their series history, but also never beaten them in a head-to-head dual dating back to 2000. The group finished the weekend with two more dual wins over LMU and Cal Poly to cap-off a successful weekend.

JACK KRAMER INVITATIONAL

Saint Mary's started the weekend off with an upset dual victory over Cal on the opening day of the Jack Kramer Invitational back on Friday. Four singles and a pair of doubles victories contributed to the 6-0 sweep over the Golden Bears, the first ever documented sweep in program history. All four wins required a tiebreaker but Juan Pedro Etchecoin, Paulo Hugo Etchecoin, Brendan Loh and Finn Dyer made up the singles victories. The Etchecoin brothers won 7-6 (7-4) in doubles play, while Loh and Dyer made quick work in their match with a 6-3 victory.

Dyer and Loh picked up another doubles win on Saturday over Cal Poly, as the Gaels went on to defeat the Mustangs 5-1 for their second win of the weekend. Singles wins came from the same group of four, but in straight sets this time. Paulo and Dyer were the only two Gaels to finish their weekend unbeaten in singles play, after both recorded wins against WCC foe LMU on Sunday. The duo combined for six singles victories, as the Gaels capped off one of their best performances this fall.

PACIFIC INVITE

In similar fashion as the group down at the Jack Kramer Invitational, Saint Mary's started the Pacific Invite with a 6-0 sweep over Menlo on Friday. Doubles partners Bastien Maxant/Sam Simmonds and freshmen Frano Sucic/Devin Stuppin earned doubles points with a pair of 6-4 victories. The same group of four would clinch the sweep with four singles victories with all but one coming in straight sets.

The Gaels fell to Big West member UC Davis on Saturday but salvaged a point with a doubles win from Sucic and Stuppin. The freshmen duo went 2-0 on the weekend after defeating Adien Mueller/Jason Zhang 6-4. Saint Mary's ended the Pacific Invite with a dual against fellow WCC member Santa Clara, falling 5-1. The lone point once again came in doubles play, but this time from Joey Lyon and Devin Stuppin. Stuppin concluded his weekend 3-0 in doubles play as the Gael standout in Stockton.
