No. 35 Women's Tennis Tops San Diego, 6-1

Boise, ID - The No. 35 Saint Mary's women's tennis program continued their winning ways in Boise, ID, as they defeated the University of San Diego on a neutral site, 6-1. With the victory the Gaels improve to 8-2 on the year and 5-0 against West Coast Conference opponents.

Saint Mary's started off on the right foot as they captured the doubles point, earning wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions. The duo of Jessica Hoath and Nienke Strijbis defeated San Diego's Milou Teeling and Justine Perl, 8-5, while freshman Alex Poorta and Claire Soper took down Tammy Kevey and Samantha Mouly, 8-4.

The Gaels made easy work of San Diego in singles play, earning wins in five out of their six matches. Hoath needed little time to defeat her opponent at the No. 1 position, taking down the Toreros' Mouly, 6-1, 6-1. Hoath, a native of Australia, is currently ranked the 117th best singles player in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Junior Marah Calvo also defeated her opponent in quick fashion, topping Milou 6-0, 6-2.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Sunday, March 9 at 11:00 AM, as they face the host school, Boise State.
