Freshman guard Katie Batlin earned her first career West Coast Conference player of the week honor, as she carried the Gaels in their only contest of the week. The freshman put on a magnificent performance against San Diego on Saturday, January 24, recording career-highs in points and rebounds, helping the Gaels' to a double overtime win over the Toreros. The Moraga, CA native finished with a team-high 27 points on 13-of-23 shooting from the floor, while also pulling down 11 rebounds. Batlin also dished out four assists and picked up one steal in the contest, while playing in an impressive 45 minutes of action.
Batlin had posted her career-high in points in the first half alone, totaling 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting. From that point on the freshman continued at the same pace, scoring four points in the first overtime to help hold off the Toreros.
