
Women's Basketball Announces 2010-11 Schedule

Moraga, CA - Head coach Paul Thomas of the Saint Mary's women's basketball team announced the 2010-11 schedule this week. During the 2009-10 campaign, the Gaels advanced to postseason play for the fifth time in school history, making an appearance in the WNIT after finishing runner-up in the West Coast Conference.
Headlining several returners for the 2010-11 Gaels includes senior Louella Tomlinson, the 2009-10 WCC Defender of the Year and All-WCC First-Team selection. Kate Gaze and Tifa Puletasi also return after being named to the WCC All-Freshman team.
Saint Mary's opens the year on November 7 with an exhibition game against Chico State. The first game of the year is Friday, November 12 when the Gaels host Washington State at 7:00 p.m. in McKeon Pavilion.
The Gaels face four Pac-10 teams this year including California, UCLA and Oregon.
Some other notable dates on the SMC schedule includes the Saint Mary's Hilton Tournament on November 26-27. The Gaels will host the tournament and be joined by Brigham Young, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
Conference play begins on January 6 when the Gaels host Loyola Marymount. Opening weekend also includes a January 8 home date against Pepperdine, the team that knocked off the Gaels in the WCC tournament.
SMC also faces defending WCC champion Gonzaga on January 27 (McKeon Pavilion) and February 24 (Spokane, WA).
The West Coast Conference tournament will again be held in Las Vegas on March 4-7 at the Orleans Arena.
